He suffered from anxiety and increasingly frequent bouts of mental illness throughout his life and died, largely unknown, at the age of 37 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

    Nick, I have a copy of Van Gogh's 'lane with poplar trees' similar to that shown above. However, the copy I have is missing several 'torn out' areas on the perimeter of the painting. On the painting you show above, these tear points are filled in. Mine are not since the tear is actually missing on my copy. My copy seems to be older than the one you show because of the missing torn out areas on the perimeter at the top and edges of the print. In fact, in the print you show, the tear out marks, for example, at the top of the print are filled in but you can see the lines of where the tear had occurred. At any rate, I'm somewhat new at looking at Van Gogh works and wondering if my 'older' copy is of any value. The size of the pencil, brown ink painting is approximately 14" by 20".
