Saft Cornelis

SAFT-LEVEN, CORNELIS, born in Rotterdam, 1612 (?), died after 1682 (?). Dutch school ; genre, landscape, and animal painter, brother of Herman, and although inferior to him, has much merit for truth of conception and careful execution ; colouring heavy and generally cold ; rendered poultry with marvellous fidelity, and occasionally painted still-life ; lived in Utrecht in 1634.
