(1564-1651). Abraham Bloemaert was an Utrecht Mannerist. He was in Paris 1580-83 and returned to Utrecht to paint elaborate history and genre subjects, bright in colour and with an exaggerated figure style reminiscent of Wtewael. he was the teacher of so many other painters, including Both, J.G. Cupy, Honthorst, Brugghem, Weenix, and others.
