Thanks for sharing! Amazing art! I have already examined some of the paintings of Jean-Leon Jerome in the context of the narrative. Returning back to look at his work, I realized that there is much to say. I'll try to talk a little more about his work and its importance. After Gérôme’s death, his paintings and sculpture became largely forgotten. Twentieth century critics like Roger Fry helped ensure that – even though they had entered many public collections – they rested in store, unseen by the public.
It is largely through the lifelong work of one man, Gerald Ackerman, that Gérôme’s paintings are starting to appear again in the galleries and exhibitions. I agree that these paintings should be seen again.
