(1599-1661). Italian painter and draughtsman. The pupil of Albani and master of Maratti, he was the leading representative of the classical tradition in Roman painting in the mid-17th century. In 1693 he as commissioned to direct the redecoration of the Lateran Baptistery. Sacchi also painted a number of successful portraits.
